Guidelines for Class work and Makeup Work

Guidelines concerning class work are as follows:

All work is due in class on the assigned date.

„h All work should be complete and legible.

„h The heading for any work should include the proper MLA Heading: student’s name, teacher's name, class period, date, and the title should include the description of work - page/exercise number.

„h Students will be given two days per each day missed in order to make up work missed during excused absences with the exception of the pre-assigned work. Projects or writing assignments that have a preassigned due date will be due the day the student returns to school.

IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBLITY TO CHECK THE MAKEUP BINDER AND SPEAK WITH THE TEACHER ABOUT MISSED WORK!

Guidelines concerning grading and testing are as follows:

„h

The teacher will follow the 10 point grading system, 90-100=A, etc.

„h A syllabus will be posted for the term. The syllabus will outline the projected subject content and timelines.

„h Cheating will not be tolerated. Both giving and receiving help on any assignment or test is considered cheating, and all students involved will receive a "0" on the assignment or test. Parents will be contacted, and the students may be referred to the vice-principal for disciplinary action.

„h Citizenship will be determined by behavior in class. Behavior such as texting, chewing gum, eating candy, writing notes, sleeping, combing hair, applying make-up, drawing on paper or desks, taking each other’s belongings, talking, throwing paper and other objects, etc. is not allowed and will affect citizenship grades.

Guidelines concerning conduct are as follows:

„h

All rules of the school will be strictly and consistently enforced.

„h Students are to treat others with courtesy, respect, and consideration at all times.

„h Students must be in their seats when the tardy bell rings in order to be counted "on-time." (This does not include being in the doorway or running into the room as the bell rings.)

„h Texting and writing/passing notes is not acceptable behavior. Phones and notes will be taken, read, and attached to discipline forms. Any phones/notes containing inappropriate language or pictures will be sent to the vice-principal.

„h All graded assignments and tests will be given back to the students to be viewed and then returned to the teacher for filing.

I will be glad to assist your child with any work that he/she may not understand. However, the student must let me know of his/her need and make arrangements in advance to meet me before or after school.
